pizzaburger

Since I’ve confessed about my problem of not letting things go to waste, I have a similar confession today. If there are leftovers, somehow…someway they may very well find pizzaburger2their way into the next day’s dinner pan like the time the leftover spaghetti sauce and meatballs found their way to the burgers.  I have another confession, the kids actually came up with the idea of adding a meatball to the burger.  You can never stack a burger too high.  What a match, all our faves melded together! Mozzarella, pepperoni and sliced meatballs top a pizza seasoned burger.  Mmmm! Are you hungry yet? This triple topper sandwich pleases my starving bunch every time.

Ingredients
  1. 1-1/2 pound lean ground beef
  2. 1/2 pound lean ground turkey
  3. 1/2 teaspoon Pizza Seasoning
  4. 2 Tablespoons water
  5. 8 slices Mozzarella Or Provolone Cheese
  6. Pepperoni Slices
  7. 1 cup Marinara Sauce (your favorite jarred)
  8. 8 meatballs (pre-cooked)
  9. Grated Fresh Parmesan Cheese
  10. 8 Kaiser Rolls or Hamburger Buns
Instructions
  1. Combine ground beef, ground turkey, and pizza seasoning in a bowl. Mix the mixture together and form it into 8 patties. In a large nonstick or iron skillet, cook the burgers on medium heat for about 5 minutes, then turn the burgers and cook another 5 minutes. Turn heat to low, add 2 tablespoons water to the skillet, cover with a lid, and allow to cook for 10 more minutes.
  2. Lay 1 slices of cheese on each patty, followed by several slices of pepperoni. Cook about 3 to 5 more minutes until the cheese melts and the pepperoni warms.
  3. While hamburgers are cooking, heat the marinara sauce and meatballs.
  4. Split the rolls and toast them in butter in a skillet until golden brown. Spread both halves with marinara sauce and sprinkle the sauce with Parmesan.
  5. Lay the patties on the bottom buns, top with one sliced meatball, then add the top buns. Serve immediately!
