Butter Rolls

Servings 12 rolls

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 3/4 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Topping

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

Instructions for Bread Maker

  1. Select the Dough setting on your Bread Maker.Press start.When unit signals done, press Stop and remove the dough.

  2. Shape as desired.Cover with tea towel and let rise until doubled in size, about an hour

  3. Bake at 375 degrees F for 15 minutes until golden on top and baked through.  After removing from the oven, spread the tops with butter.

Instructions for Stand Mixer or Hand Mixer

  1. In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the dough hook (or in a large bowl if mixing by hand), combine the milk, salt, water, and butter  

  2. Mix all ingredients.Add the egg, yeast, sugar, and 2 cups of flour. Mix well.Continue adding the rest of the flour until the dough clears the sides of the bowl and is soft and smooth,   You do not want the dough to be too sticky.  Add more flour if needed, but do not over flour the dough

  3. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes. Stop and remove the dough.

  4. Shape as desired.Cover with tea towel and let rise until doubled in size, about an hour

  5. Bake at 375 degrees F for 15 minutes until golden on top and baked through. Spread the tops with butter after removing from the oven.

  6. Brush with melted butter.
